The United States has initiated the demolition of part of the East Wing of the White House. According to President Donald Trump, a new spacious ballroom is set to be built in its place. The American leader shared this news on the social media platform Truth Social.
Trump emphasized that the East Wing is a separate building, not directly connected to the main part of the White House, and that after the renovation, it will be "more beautiful than ever".
"For over 150 years, every president has dreamed of having a ballroom in the White House for hosting grand parties and state visits. I am honored to be the first president to finally kick off this much-needed project," Trump wrote.
The U.S. president also pointed out that the renovation is funded through private donations. He mentioned that the project is supported by "many generous patriots," and he himself has made a contribution. Previously, according to BBC reports, Trump estimated the cost of the ballroom construction at around 250 million dollars, assuring that the work will not interfere with the functioning of the main building.
