Enhanced U.S. Support for Ukraine: Intelligence Sharing

image

U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified American assistance to Kyiv following a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in July, amidst the White House's growing frustration with Russia. This was reported by Financial Times based on informed sources.
One notable sign of this deepened support for Ukraine by the U.S. has been the sharing of intelligence.
Through this intelligence sharing, the U.S. has been enabling Ukraine to execute long-range strikes against Russian energy facilities, including refineries located far behind the front lines.
U.S. intelligence aids Kyiv in planning routes, altitudes, timing, and making mission decisions that allow Ukrainian drones to evade Russian air defense systems.
One U.S. official explained that initially, Ukraine selected targets for long-range strikes, after which Washington provided intelligence on the vulnerabilities of these facilities.
The source indicated that the U.S. also identified priority targets for the Ukrainians, adding that Ukrainian drones became a “tool” for Washington to weaken the Russian economy and push Russian leader Vladimir Putin towards peace negotiations.
It has been noted that the exchange of intelligence has become a new indication that Trump has deepened his support for Ukraine while his frustration with Russia increases.
This shift occurred after a phone call between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky in July, when the U.S. president asked whether Ukraine could strike Moscow if Washington provided it with long-range weaponry.
