The Palestinian movement Hamas has released the first group of hostages, transferring them to the Red Cross. According to reports from The Times of Israel, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed this news via Telegram.
The report states, "Seven hostages have been handed over to the Red Cross in Gaza," which sparked loud applause in Tel Aviv's square where thousands gathered to welcome the freed individuals.
Among those released are Ziv and Gali Berman, Matan Angrest, Alon Ohel, Omri Miran, Eitan Mora, and Guy Gilboa-Dalal.
Saudi news channel Al-Hadath also reported that the Red Cross received the seven live hostages in Gaza.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed this information.
"According to the Red Cross, the seven hostages are now in their care and are on their way to IDF and Israeli security forces in the Gaza Strip.
The Israel Defense Forces are ready to accept additional hostages expected to be transferred to the Red Cross later," the statement reads.
