Following the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza, thousands of residents began making their way back to their homes. The Israeli army confirmed that the peace agreement took effect at 12:00 local time, which is the same as Kyiv time. This was reported by TRT Haber.
"People waiting on Rashid Avenue, which connects the northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip, headed north to return home after the cessation of hostilities," the channel reported.
On Friday, the Israeli government ratified the ceasefire agreement with Palestinian militants Hamas, allowing for a halt in conflict in Gaza for 24 hours and facilitating the potential release of Israeli hostages held there within 72 hours thereafter.
