Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated that during an emergency meeting of the National Security Bureau, they discussed violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones. The possibility of invoking NATO Article 4, which entails urgent consultations with allies, was also on the agenda.
According to RAR, the meeting included Prime Minister Donald Tusk, deputy ministers of national defense, and high-ranking military officials.
Nawrocki mentioned that the meeting focused on activating Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which requires joint consultations whenever a member perceives a threat to another member's territorial integrity or security.
General Wiesław Kukula, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, promised to provide a full report on the incidents within 48 hours.
The necessity to enhance Poland's defense against drones, particularly in cooperation with NATO allies, was also discussed.
Currently, services are assessing the damages from the nighttime events.
Recall that during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported multiple violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones amid attacks on Ukraine. Prime Minister Donald Tusk described these violations as a "significant provocation" by Moscow.
