The Tiananmen Square in Beijing hosted a grand military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the war of resistance against Japanese aggression and the global anti-fascist war. The event was broadcasted by China's central television.

Chinese President Xi Jinping officiated the parade, dressed in a suit reminiscent of previous leader Mao Zedong. Notable guests included Russian President Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Over 20 heads of state attended, including Iran's president and Serbia's president. European ambassadors, including the Ukrainian ambassador, declined invitations due to the presence of Russian and Iranian leaders.

“Today, humanity faces a choice between peace and war,” Xi stated at Tiananmen Square. He emphasized that the revival of the Chinese nation is unstoppable, and to prevent historical tragedies, the root causes of wars must be addressed.

He stressed that global security can only be achieved through equality and mutual support among nations. After his speech, Xi took a ride in an open-top limousine to review the troops and showcase advanced military technology, including new missile systems and drones. The parade lasted for 70 minutes, with military aircraft performing aerial displays. The event concluded with the symbolic release of 80,000 peace doves.

It should be noted that military parades in China are rare and are dedicated to significant events. The last parade took place in 2019.
