In recent talks with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, US President Donald Trump suggested that the conflict in Ukraine might be resolved through "territorial exchanges" and certain security guarantees.
Trump shared this perspective in an interview with Fox News, citing sources from CNN.
When asked by a journalist about potential territorial concessions that could be granted to Russia, Trump indicated that this topic was part of his discussions with Putin.
«These were the matters we addressed, and we largely reached an agreement on them. I believe we agreed on many things. The meeting was indeed positive», — he stated.
Trump characterized Putin as a «strong leader» and «very tough», emphasizing that the discussions were constructive.
«I think we are quite close to a resolution. However, Ukraine will need to agree to this», – he added.
According to Trump, quoted by the BBC, Ukraine must consider the proposed agreement.
«Of course, they might say «no», » he emphasized.
The US President also mentioned that the ultimate resolution of the conflict relies on President Volodymyr Zelensky.
