Man Arrested for Assaulting Ukrainian Citizen in Poland
In Jelenia Góra, police officers apprehended a 40-year-old man without a fixed address, who was previously known to law enforcement. He assaulted a 51-year-old Ukrainian woman.
The victim shared that she was beaten by an acquaintance with whom she had been staying in an abandoned building for several days. After the attack, he held her captive for a total of 9 days.
On June 19, the woman managed to escape from the room where she was kept and reached a nearby detention center. Bruised and in distress, she sought help, complaining of severe headaches and chest discomfort. The guards immediately provided her with first aid and called for medical assistance.
When the victim showed the police a photo of her assailant, they recognized him immediately, as he was already linked to other crimes in Jelenia Góra.
The police quickly began searching for the suspect, who was spotted near an unoccupied building. Upon seeing the police, the man attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended.
He is currently under the supervision of the district prosecutor's office in Jelenia Góra, where all circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
“The suspect will be delivered to the district prosecutor’s office in Jelenia Góra, where charges will be brought against him,” the police stated. A request for a preventive measure in the form of temporary detention will also be submitted. The investigation is ongoing.
