A horrific tragedy occurred in Hasrode, Belgium, where a 46-year-old woman and her 6-year-old daughter were found dead. Both had severe knife wounds, and the crime scene had been deliberately set on fire.

Details: The tragedy took place on Friday morning in a priest's house on Milsestraat Street, near Oud-Heverlee. Fire services received a call about a fire at around 9:30 AM. Upon arrival, they found heavy smoke coming from the first-floor apartment windows. The fire was contained shortly thereafter.
During the inspection of the premises, rescuers discovered the bodies of the mother and daughter. The mother was already deceased upon the arrival of the rescuers, while the child was revived but later succumbed to her injuries.
According to the investigation, both victims had knife wounds. Preliminary findings by fire experts indicated that the fire was intentionally set.
This is a Ukrainian family that has been living in Belgium for three years. The girl's father is still fighting on the front lines in Ukraine. The woman also had a 16-year-old son who was at school during the fire. He is currently being taken care of.
The prosecution is treating the incident as a double murder.
