Unique Artifacts of Ukrainian Football to be Showcased in Toronto
This extraordinary project featuring over 200 exhibits will be held for the first time abroad to share the story of Ukrainian football's development and its role in Ukraine's fight during the war.
The exhibition «Ukrainian Football: The Game Continues» will take place at the Trident Centre in Toronto from June 5 to June 10 (10:00 AM to 8:00 PM). Admission is free.
It is organized by the Ukrainian Football Association in conjunction with the Canadian Shield tournament, featuring the national team of Ukraine.
Among the exhibits are unique artifacts that have never been displayed together or taken out of Ukraine:
- all jerseys of the Ukrainian national team from its first match in 1992 to the present
- original coaching notes from the legend of «Dynamo» and the Ukrainian national team Valeriy Lobanovskyi
- official European trophies of «Dynamo» and «Shakhtar»
- exhibits from the Ukrainian national team’s participation in Euros and World Cups, including the jersey worn by Andriy Rusol when he scored the first goal for the blue and yellow in these tournaments
- the winning trophy of Euro-2009 (U-19), held in Donetsk and Mariupol, which was won by the Ukrainian youth team, as well as awards from other youth teams.
«For the first time in history, we have managed to gather unique artifacts from various collections in one place to show the world how football reflects our struggle, memory, and unity.
We want those outside Ukraine to see how football has become not just a game for us, but a part of our national DNA—how it continues even in wartime,» commented UAF President Andriy Shevchenko on the event in Canada.
A special section of the exhibition will focus on football during the full-scale invasion of Russia.
Visitors will be able to learn the stories of football players, coaches, and fans who defended Ukraine, as well as information about Russian crimes and examples of support for our country from the football community.
