A tragic event occurred in Liverpool as a car crashed into a large crowd of fans celebrating the football club «Liverpool» winning the Premier League, reports Ukrinform citing The Guardian.
Details of the Incident
The incident took place around 6 PM local time in the city center, resulting in nearly 50 injuries, including children.
A 53-year-old man was arrested at the scene, who is believed to have been driving the vehicle.
The North-West Ambulance Service confirmed that 27 individuals were taken to the hospital, two of whom, including a child, sustained serious injuries.
Additionally, 20 people received treatment at the scene. A total of four children were among the injured.
Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims stated that the incident is not being treated as terrorism, and no further suspects are being sought at this time. The motives behind the perpetrator's actions remain unclear.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer responded to the event, saying: «The events in Liverpool are horrifying - my thoughts are with all those injured and affected. I am keeping updated on the situation and request that the police be given the necessary space to conduct their investigation».
The football club «Liverpool» also expressed its «thoughts and prayers» for those impacted by the incident.
