Energy Crisis in Ukraine Following January 9 Attack

As a result of a massive strike on the night of January 9, over 500,000 consumers in Kyiv and the surrounding region are without power; the city of Slavutych has been completely cut off from electricity again. This was reported at a briefing by Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk.
"Due to the shelling, significant damage was inflicted on the energy transmission system - substations and power lines, as well as generation facilities. Currently, more than 500,000 consumers in Kyiv and the Kyiv region are without power. Due to damage to networks on the left bank of Kyiv and parts of the Kyiv region, operators have introduced emergency shutdowns. On the right bank of Kyiv, scheduled outages are in effect," Kolisnyk stated.
He noted that the city of Slavutych has been cut off from power supply again, which administratively belongs to Kyiv region.
Additionally, as of the morning, about 3,000 subscribers in the Chernihiv region remain without electricity.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, 34,000 consumers are without power. Energy workers have restored power to over 1 million subscribers who were cut off due to Russian shelling on January 7-8.
As reported, on the night of January 9, Russian troops launched a combined strike against Ukraine using strike drones as well as maritime and ground-based missiles. In total, radio-technical troops of the Air Force detected and escorted 278 aerial attack means - 36 missiles and 242 UAVs of various types.
Air defense forces neutralized 226 Russian drones, eight Iskander-M ballistic missiles / S-400, and 10 Kalibr cruise missiles.
In Kyiv, four fatalities and 25 injuries have been reported as a result of the Russian attack. 16 of the injured were hospitalized.
In Kyiv region, as a result of the combined attack, five people were injured, and houses sustained damage.
