The Ukrainian Air Defense forces have neutralized 226 drones, eight "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles, and 10 "Kalibr" cruise missiles. This was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine via Telegram.
Starting from 19:30 on January 8, Russian forces launched a combined strike against critical infrastructure targets in Ukraine, utilizing strike UAVs, sea-based, and ground-based missiles.
The primary target of the strike was Kyiv region.
Overall, the radio-technical troops of the Air Forces detected and escorted 278 air attack means – 36 missiles and 242 UAVs of various types:
- 242 strike UAVs of the Shahed type, "Gerbera" (other types of drones) from directions: Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (RF), Chauda, Hvardijske (temporarily occupied Crimea), and temporarily occupied Donetsk. Approximately 150 of these are Shahed-type drones;
- 13 "Iskander-M" / S-400 ballistic missiles (launch areas – Bryansk region);
- 22 "Kalibr" cruise missiles (from the Black Sea waters);
- one medium-range ballistic missile (from the Kapustin Yar range, Astrakhan region).
The air assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 9:00 AM on January 9, the air defense systems shot down / suppressed 244 aerial targets:
- 226 drones;
- eight "Iskander-M" / S-400 ballistic missiles;
- 10 "Kalibr" cruise missiles.
Strikes were recorded from 18 missiles and 16 strike UAVs at 19 locations.
