On September 14-15, Nizhyn experienced the most massive airstrike since the war began. The air raid alert lasted over 16 hours, causing damage to critical infrastructure.

This was reported by the mayor of Nizhyn, Oleksandr Kodola, in a video address.

"Yesterday, our city endured the most intense air assault since the conflict began. The air raid alert was continuous for more than 16 hours. Dozens of enemy drones attacked our community. Unfortunately, several critical infrastructure facilities were hit. One enterprise suffered a double strike, resulting in temporary outages of electricity and water supply in certain areas of our city," stated Mayor Oleksandr Kodola.

According to the mayor, during the day on Sunday, one of the drones and its debris fell right in the city center, later the enemy struck a private oil depot, leading to a significant fire. Over 20 units of firefighting equipment were deployed. After extinguishing the fire, the enemy launched a second strike, resulting in three rescuers sustaining shrapnel injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at the Nizhyn city hospital.
