Crackdown on Underground Production: 30 Raids Across Ukraine

image

Law enforcement agencies carried out 30 searches in various regions of the country, confiscating materials and equipment valued at approximately 2,000,000 UAH.
As part of comprehensive actions to uncover criminal groups harming trademark owners, another network of illegal production was discovered. The offenders operated in Kharkiv, Kyiv regions, and the capital, particularly in industrial zones and garage cooperatives.
The workshops were equipped with all necessary machinery, raw materials, and packaging. To avoid suspicion, the criminals utilized alternative energy sources for their operations. Coffee and spices were packaged in containers bearing logos of well-known manufacturers.
The counterfeit products were sold as genuine items, and buyers then resold them on the consumer market. Orders could be placed via mail or delivered using the participants' own transport in this underground business.
Operatives and investigators of the National Police conducted searches in Kyiv, as well as in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions, inspecting residential, industrial, and warehouse premises of the offenders. As a result of the searches, production lines, packaging equipment, raw materials for counterfeit production, vehicles, mobile phones, and handwritten notes were seized. Thousands of boxes of ready-to-sell products were also found.
Further investigative actions are ongoing. The criminal proceedings are being investigated under Articles 176 (violation of copyright), 190 (fraud), and 229 (illegal use of trademarks) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The procedural leadership in the criminal proceedings is provided by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
