In the capital of Ukraine, police have charged a former theater director with sexual assault against students. The man, who held a leadership role in a theater and taught at a university, has been accused of using his position since 2017 to coerce students into sexual relations without their consent. He has committed sexual violence against them repeatedly.
Investigators from the National Police, supported by cyber police and overseen by the Attorney General's Office, have documented criminal acts against five victims, including a minor.
The evidence gathered has led to charges of rape, including against a minor (part 2 and part 3 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), as well as sexual violence (part 1 and part 2 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The accused faces up to ten years in prison.
He has been served a motion for pre-trial detention without the possibility of bail.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
