The drop in temperatures and the delay in the heating season in Ukraine have caused a significant increase in electricity consumption, exceeding 20% compared to the beginning of the month, reported the head of the board of «Ukrenergo», Vitaliy Zaychenko.
«We hope that in the near future, within ten days, heating will be provided throughout Ukraine, which will lead to a decrease in electricity consumption. Many consumers are currently relying on electric heaters and air conditioners for warmth,» he stated during a telethon.
He also noted that over the past seven years, residential consumers have become the largest electricity users in Ukraine, so altering their behavior could significantly help stabilize the situation, particularly by reducing the use of high-power electrical appliances during peak load times.
