Security Service of Ukraine Foils Terrorist Plots in Lviv

The Security Service of Ukraine successfully prevented two terrorist acts orchestrated by Russian agents in Lviv.
Thanks to timely actions, Ukrainian soldiers were protected from remote detonation attempts using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
To lure soldiers to the planned attack sites, the enemy employed a deceptive tactic of «inviting on a date».
Russian operatives created fake female accounts on popular social media to establish contact with potential «targets».
Subsequently, two defense forces soldiers received «invitations» to meet at locations where explosives were planted.
Cyber experts from the Security Service uncovered the enemy's scheme in advance, neutralized the IEDs, and safeguarded the Ukrainian defenders intended to be detonated.
It is worth noting that earlier this summer, counterintelligence in Kyiv prevented a similar assassination attempt on a soldier of the National Guard of Ukraine. At that time, the terrorists tried to blow up the military using explosives hidden in a scooter.
During the investigation, a 19-year-old Kyiv resident was detained for planting explosives in the vehicle. It was established that the occupiers had recruited him through themed Telegram channels advertising «easy earnings».
Investigative actions are ongoing to hold all responsible parties accountable.
Comprehensive measures were conducted by the Security Service in Kyiv and the Kyiv, Lviv regions in cooperation with the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
