President Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded the title of hero to 16 cities across Ukraine. He shared this news via his Telegram channel.
«Today, on Defender's Day and the Feast of the Protection of the Holy Virgin, we honor everyone who fights for our independence. This day is also a perfect opportunity to recognize our communities that make significant contributions to the defense of our nation. I have signed a decree granting hero status to cities that have saved thousands of lives. These cities stand as symbols of resilience and bravery throughout Ukraine», the president stated.
Zelensky highlighted the cities: Pavlohrad, Nikopol, and Marhanets in Dnipropetrovsk region; Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, and Sloviansk in Donetsk region; Huliaipole and Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia; Voznesensk and Bashtanka in Mykolaiv region; Sumy and Trostianets in Sumy region; Kupiansk in Kharkiv region; and Starokostiantyniv in Khmelnytskyi region.
