Detention of Russian Intelligence Agents in Donetsk

The Security Service of Ukraine has arrested two individuals linked to Russian military intelligence who were providing information for attacks in Donetsk.
Occupiers recruited local residents who called for complete occupation of the region on social media to get coordinates for shelling.
After recruitment, these agents operated separately, spying on various frontline areas, reporting back to their curators in private chats.
One of those arrested is a 49-year-old man from Sloviansk who directed Russian bombs onto Ukrainian positions.
To disguise his actions, he wore military attire and posed as a soldier.
The other detainee, a 66-year-old resident of Kramatorsk, was recruited through an acquaintance who is a militant on the eastern front.
This agent transmitted information about the routes of Ukrainian forces and their positions.
SBU operatives uncovered both detainees and took measures to secure Ukrainian positions in areas of enemy activity.
After gathering evidence, they were apprehended.
Investigators informed them of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  •  part 2 of article 111 (high treason in conditions of martial law);
  •  part 3 of article 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement of the Armed Forces during martial law).

The detainees are in custody and face life imprisonment with asset confiscation. The operations were conducted by SBU employees in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the supervision of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
