The police in Kharkiv have apprehended an individual accused of assaulting a military veteran, using violence and a firearm.

On the evening of August 3, reports of gunfire in the Industrial District prompted an immediate police response, including investigative teams and forensic experts.

It was determined that during an unexpected altercation, one participant pulled out a traumatic gun and shot his opponent at close range, subsequently beating him. The 22-year-old victim, a military veteran, was taken to the hospital.

Authorities quickly located and arrested the shooter, identified as a local resident born in 1981. He was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators have initiated a pre-trial investigation under part 4 of Article 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty for this offense can lead to a maximum of 7 years in prison. All details of the incident are being established.
