Fortunately, a two-year-old boy has survived.
The child, who fell from a second-floor window, was hospitalized with injuries. The unfortunate incident occurred on July 2 in Hostomel, in the Bucha district, as reported by the Kyiv police.
According to preliminary information, the toddler climbed onto the windowsill, leaned on the mosquito net, and fell out of the window. At the time of the event, the child's mother was at home but turned away for a few moments. Luckily, the boy did not land on the asphalt but on a metal awning located directly beneath the window.
The child's life is not in danger. Law enforcement officers in the Bucha district are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
Unfortunately, such incidents are not uncommon. Most accidents involving children occur during the warm season when parents leave windows open. Mosquito nets cannot support the weight of small children, and kids often climb onto windowsills using chairs.
Authorities urge parents not to leave children unattended in rooms with open windows and to install safety devices that prevent window opening.
