The military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, successfully thwarted a new attempt by Russian intelligence to acquire data on the aviation infrastructure of the Ukrainian military.

During the special operation in the Lviv region, an Air Force major was arrested, who turned out to be a Russian agent. He was recruited by his ex-wife, who works for the aggressor in Melitopol.

According to the case materials, the subversive activities were coordinated by FSB officer Alexander Belodedov.

The agent's primary task was to gather information about the Ukrainian military aviation. In particular, the enemy sought to obtain coordinates of operational airfields, logistics hubs, and maintenance centers for the Armed Forces' combat aircraft.

If successful in acquiring this geolocation data, the occupiers intended to carry out rocket and drone strikes.

The SBU employees timely exposed the agent, documented his connections with the Russian special services, and arrested him.

The Security Service also took measures to protect the locations of Ukrainian forces.

Based on the collected evidence, the SBU investigators notified the agent of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed by a group of persons in a state of war).

The perpetrator is currently in custody, facing life imprisonment and asset confiscation.

Additionally, his ex-wife, currently in the temporarily occupied southern part of Ukraine, has also been notified of suspicion for treason during wartime.

The special operation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
