On May 27, 2025, Kyiv hosted a significant event where veterans of the Ukrainian military intelligence special forces met with youth: cadets, high school students, and college students.
This event, dedicated to the Day of Heroes, was moderated by Hero of Ukraine Volodymyr Zhemchuhov. He emphasized the importance of connection between generations, the nation's struggle for freedom, and the need to understand the history of one’s people.
“I grew up in Luhansk, and when the Russians invaded, we were unaware of our history, which left us powerless,” said Volodymyr Zhemchuhov.
During the event, fighters from the GUR MO Ukraine unit “Revansh” and veterans from “Artan” and “Kraken” shared their personal stories. All were volunteers.
The warriors received awards for their bravery in combat. Rosomakha, Samokha, and Teige were honored with the “For Courage” orders.
“In the past, we often lost due to a lack of unity. It’s crucial that we learn from this,” shared a fighter known as “Teige.”
The cadets inquired about modern battlefield trends and why the veterans chose to serve in Ukrainian military intelligence.
“I've always had an analytical mind, which is essential in GUR,” explained the scout Samokha.
Veterans Ivan Tarn and Oleksandr Dashko, who recently returned from the Himalayas, encouraged youth not to fear challenges and to invest in self-improvement.
“Your generation has the responsibility to rebuild the country. You need to find your path,” stressed Ivan Tarn.
At the end of the event, the youth had the chance to interact informally with the GUR warriors and take photos as mementos of the meeting.
