Polish Honor for Ukrainian General

The President of Poland awarded Kyril Budanov one of the highest honors for foreign citizens.

In recognition of his significant contributions to international relations that bind Poland with other nations, President Andrzej Duda awarded Lieutenant General Kyril Budanov the Golden Officer's Cross of the Order of “Merit to Poland”.

Additionally, Major General Vadym Skibitsky, deputy head of the GUR MO of Ukraine, received the Knight's Cross of the same order.

On behalf of the Polish President, who emphasized the importance of partnership with Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression, the awards were presented by Colonel Dominik Duda, Deputy Head of the Polish Intelligence Agency.

“I sincerely thank President Andrzej Duda for his trust and willingness to recognize our friendly Polish-Ukrainian relations! This current war is a fight for freedom, our principles, and the values of a united Europe. Together, we can resist the Russian threat and secure a peaceful future for our nations!” emphasized Kyril Budanov.

The Order of “Merit to Poland” is one of the highest honors in Poland, awarded to foreigners who have made significant contributions to international cooperation.

Notable recipients in the past include former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
