On Saturday, Meta revealed its latest language model versions known as Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick.
This was reported by Reuters.
According to Meta, Llama is a multimodal artificial intelligence system.
Such systems can process and integrate various types of data including text, video, images, and audio, and can convert content between these formats.
Meta added that Llama 4 Maverick and Llama 4 Scout will be available as open-source software.
The company also announced a preview of Llama 4 Behemoth, which they referred to as «one of the smartest LLMs in the world and our most powerful that will serve as a teacher for our new models».
Major tech firms are actively investing in AI infrastructure following the success of OpenAI's ChatGPT, which transformed the tech landscape and spurred investments in machine learning.
On Friday, The Information reported that Meta postponed the release of the latest LLM version as Llama 4 did not meet Meta's expectations during technical tests, particularly in reasoning and mathematical tasks.
The company was also concerned that Llama 4 was less capable than OpenAI's models in conducting human-like conversations, as stated in the report.
