New Feature for Commemorating Heroes in Kyiv Digital

Every day at 8:55 users will receive a notification, and at 9:00 the countdown for the minute of silence will begin.

In the Kyiv Digital mobile application, a new feature has been introduced to honor the memory of those lost in the war: now the daily minute of silence is displayed as a timer on the smartphone screen. This was reported by the Kyiv Digital team.

iOS users can enable reminders in the app and allow Live Activity in their phone settings. At 8:55 users will receive a reminder, and a countdown to the minute of silence will appear at 9:00. For Android, to receive an interactive reminder on the screen, it is necessary to allow access to the alarm in the system settings and enable this feature in the app. The reminder at 8:55 is optional.

Moreover, for iPhone users, the Live Activity now shows the status of air alerts or their cancellation even on the locked screen.

«Commemorating the memory of defenders is not just a personal matter; it is an important collective action of the entire community. Thanks to the efforts of the Kyiv Digital developers, the daily minute of silence now has a visual dimension — restrained yet attentive to the meanings. Back in March, we called on owners of digital advertising media to participate in the initiative so that Kyiv would be an example of honoring the memory of our heroes, and this community responded. Now the reminder about the minute of silence will be essentially personal», — noted the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Valentyn Mondryivskyi.

As a reminder, starting from April 1, every day at 9:00 the digital billboards, city lights, and the metro will broadcast a unified visual message about the start of the minute of silence. The initiative has been implemented according to the decision of the Coordination Council on the memorialization of events of the Russian-Ukrainian war and with the support of the Kyiv City Council.
