The Ministry of Digital Transformation in Ukraine has entered into a collaboration agreement with the National Semiconductor Association.
According to the announcement from the ministry, this partnership will be part of implementing the Digital Innovation Development Strategy until 2030, known as WINWIN.
Under this memorandum, key development areas have been identified:
- integrating scientific research into manufacturing;
- participation in international initiatives;
- assistance for Ukrainian companies entering global markets;
- support for startups through mentorship and funding;
- enhancing cybersecurity for semiconductor production systems;
- training professionals and creating specialized educational programs.
The ministry reminded that chips are the foundation of nearly all digital products, from smartphones to washing machines to rockets. According to former Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Valeria Ionan, developing domestic chip production is a strategic response to global challenges. "This will help us reduce dependence on external markets, diversify the economy, and establish ourselves as a significant player in global technology policy," said Valeria Ionan.
Today, it was announced that Valeria Ionan has concluded her term as Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation. She stated that she will remain in the team, working as an advisor to Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov on issues of innovation, digitalization, and global partnerships. According to her, the new role will allow her to continue serving the state "more strategically, on a larger scale, and even more effectively," focusing on innovation and international relations.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Digital Transformation is exploring alternative options for small-scale chip manufacturing that could be implemented within one to two years.
