YouTube Dominates Smart TV Viewing Again

In April, YouTube once again topped the list of the most popular platforms for viewing on smart TVs. According to the latest Nielsen report, users spent 12.4% of their viewing time on the Google service.

The platform has maintained its position for the third consecutive month, capturing the largest share of user time. The rankings of other platforms remained unchanged for the first time since Nielsen began tracking in 2023.

The top five also included Disney, which boasts the most popular series of April, "Grey's Anatomy", Paramount with the largest growth compared to the previous month, along with NBC Universal and Netflix.

It's worth noting that reports surfaced in February indicating that more users are turning to YouTube on TVs, leading to smartphones losing their status as the primary viewing platform. This aligns with the company's vision, which is preparing updates to allow YouTube to showcase content from other streaming services.

Podcasts published on YouTube also contribute to this trend. According to Google, over 1 billion people watch them each month.
