Meta is looking to engage in the development of cutting-edge technologies for the U.S. military. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, the company has teamed up with Anduril Industries, a defense firm, to propose a project named EagleEye. While the contract is not yet finalized, its estimated value is around $100 million. This initiative is part of a broader Pentagon program worth $22 billion aimed at creating new wearable technologies for the military, with Anduril as the lead contractor.

The EagleEye project intends to create helmets, glasses, and other devices equipped with augmented and virtual reality technologies. These gadgets will feature sensors designed to enhance soldiers' hearing and vision. For instance, they will assist in detecting drones from a distance and locating hidden targets. Additionally, there are plans for integration with artificial intelligence, enabling military personnel to interact with autonomous weapon systems developed using Anduril's software and Meta's AI models.

Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, stated that these technologies will help to protect the country's interests both domestically and abroad. Palmer Luckey, the founder of Anduril, actively advocates for collaboration between major tech firms and the military. He emphasized the significance of this interaction for strengthening national defense.

Luckey, who previously worked with Meta but was dismissed in 2017 due to a scandal involving funding an anti-Clinton campaign, is now returning to collaborate with the company. He openly supports Donald Trump and believes that Anduril will achieve even greater success during his second administration.

Anduril Industries, founded by Palmer Luckey in 2017, develops advanced technologies for military and government entities, including autonomous drones, surveillance systems, and artificial intelligence-based software. In recent years, Anduril has secured government contracts totaling over $6 billion in various countries.
