The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has reaffirmed its ongoing ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes from competing in international events. This decision was made during a council meeting held on Tuesday.
The federation decided not to allow athletes from these nations to compete as individual neutral athletes (AIN) in the FIS qualification events for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and the Paralympic Games.
It is important to note that these athletes have been barred from competing under FIS since 2022, following the onset of the invasion of Ukraine.
Additionally, the Finnish association has stated its opposition to the return of Russian athletes, indicating that they will not be able to participate in the first stage of the World Cup in Ruka.
