Ukraine Cup 2025: A Thrilling Start to Fencing Competitions

image

On October 17, fencing competitions for the Ukraine Cup 2025 commenced in the capital. The first day brought an exciting victory for a Kyiv athlete!
Nikita Koshman — a student of the Kyiv City High School of Sports Excellence — won his first gold medal at the Ukraine Cup in his career!
After two consecutive silver medals and a bronze at the World Championship in July, Nikita started the new season brilliantly — third competition and third podium finish!
On his path to victory, Nikita overcame the current European champion Roman Svichkar, confidently triumphed over Ruslan Timoshenko and Mykhailo Podolskyi, and in the final, he defeated Kyiv's Yevhen Makiyenko with a score of 15:10.
The bronze medals were awarded to Yevheniy Horbachuk (Kharkiv) and Maxym Hula (Lviv) — the youngest medalist of this year's Cup among fencers.
The winners and their coaches received awards, gifts, and flowers from partners and sponsors of the Ukraine Cup 2025.
