Renowned Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh has turned down a lucrative offer to change her sports citizenship.

This has been reported by the Finnish publication Yle.

According to their information, Qatar sought to attract the world record holder and Olympic champion, offering her and her coach Tetiana Stepanova a substantial sum to compete under their flag. However, this offer was declined.

"Many countries would like us to represent them. We were in Qatar, and the Qataris offer large sums of money for us to move there, but we... We love our city and do not wish to stay abroad," Stepanova stated.

Recently, Mahuchikh was selected for the Ukrainian national team for the 2025 World Championship, which will take place in Tokyo from September 13 to 21.
