In a remarkable event for Ukrainian cycling, Maria Sukhopalova secured victory at the mountain biking World Cup stage held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

In the «eliminator» discipline, Maria excelled, leading in qualification, the semifinals, and finishing first in the final, ahead of Germany's Marion Fromberg. The bronze medal went to Brazilian cyclist Marcela Lima.

Maria Sukhopalova, the reigning world champion in the «eliminator», previously placed second at the World Cup stage in Turkey, losing to Fromberg.

After five stages of the World Cup, the Ukrainian athlete stands in second place overall.
