Ukrainian cyclist Andrii Ponomar, representing the Mexican team Petrolike, claimed second place at the renowned one-day race Giro dell'Appennino. On June 24, participants covered a distance of 203 km, starting from Novi Ligure and finishing in Genoa.

Ponomar finished second, trailing behind the esteemed Italian rider Diego Ulissi from the XDS Astana team by 9 seconds. Completing the top three was another XDS Astana representative, Simone Velasco, who finished 14 seconds behind.

Another Ukrainian participant, Kyrylo Tsarenko from Solution Tech Vini Fantini, placed 21st, finishing 21 seconds behind the winner.

This result marks Ponomar's best performance since joining Petrolike earlier this January.
