The capital has acquired new inflatable double mattresses providing 2,160 sleeping spaces, along with approximately 100 electric and manual pumps for inflation. This initiative was made possible by the project «Mattresses for Shelters», initiated by Belgian Alain Marlie.
Kyiv City State Administration's Deputy Head and Kyiv City Council member from the «UDAR» faction, Valentyn Mondriivskyi, announced this.
The implementation of this idea involved the French company INTEX, which provided the mattresses, President of the Rotary Club Louhans Bresse Bourguignonne Mr. Lacroix, and B&B Logistik from Luxembourg, which organized the delivery. The shipping costs were partially covered by the company director, Mr. Braun, while the remaining expenses were funded by European Rotary clubs.
The Kyiv City State Administration ensured the reception and distribution of the aid, which will be sent to shelters to make residents’ stays more comfortable during air alerts.
«Thanks to this initiative, the shelters in the capital that need it most will receive the necessary means for comfortable stays during air alerts. This is extremely important as enemy attacks, unfortunately, do not become less frequent, and with each new shelling, more residents seek refuge to save their lives. We are sincerely grateful to our international partners for their support — such displays of solidarity and humanity bring us closer to the great European family», Valentyn Mondriivskyi stated.
During the delivery of aid, the representative of the French embassy in Ukraine — Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission Sebastian Suren, emphasized that cooperation and solidarity in supporting Ukrainians are crucial at this time.
