Four scholars have been stripped of their academic degrees due to identified plagiarism in their dissertations.
This information was confirmed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, stating that the decision was made on April 25.
The Attestation Board of the Ministry is responsible for final decisions regarding academic degrees based on conclusions from the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education.
The individuals affected include:
Oleg Mischenko, who lost his degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences in the field of "Economics and Management of the National Economy".
His dissertation titled "Activating the Innovative and Investment Development of the Food Industry in Ukraine" contained numerous plagiarism matches with a 2015 monograph by Victoria Hubina.
Mykola Kolyadynskyi, who was stripped of his degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences in the field of "Ecological Safety".
His dissertation, "Management of Ecological Safety of Soils and Groundwater in the Impact Zone of Landfills", defended in 2013, was also found to contain plagiarism.
Andrii Zabolotnyi, who lost his degree of Candidate of Sciences in Public Administration in the field of "Theory and History of Public Administration".
His dissertation on "Legal Regulation of Professional Activity in the Field of Civil Service: Public-Management Aspect", defended in 2021, was also implicated in plagiarism.
Roksana Chupryna was stripped of her degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences in the field of "Obstetrics and Gynecology".
Her dissertation focused on the prevention of menopausal disorders in women with benign uncharacterized tumors of the uterus and ovaries, defended in 2015.
"All decisions were made unanimously, indicating understanding and consensus," noted Deputy Minister of Education Denys Kurbatov.
Recall that we previously reported that no scholar in Ukraine was stripped of an academic degree over plagiarism suspicions in 2024.
