The charity organization «Protez Foundation» hosted a significant meeting addressing pre-prosthetic preparation issues. Veterans with prosthetics, along with representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and medical institutions, participated in the event.
The meeting began with an introduction to the work of the prosthetic center «Protez Foundation». Participants had the opportunity to observe the process of prosthetic manufacturing and learn about the latest rehabilitation technologies.
"Pre-prosthetic preparation is a crucial phase in the rehabilitation of our defenders", – noted the Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Inna Yashchuk.
The co-founder and president of the «Protez Foundation», Yuri Aroshidze, emphasized that there are currently over 2000 people waiting for prosthetics. Therefore, a significant portion of the meeting focused on discussing a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation for patients after limb amputations.
“We are grateful to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for their motivation in the rehabilitation of our defenders and for quality prosthetics. We want our military to understand and feel that everything here is for them, from the beginning of pre-prosthetic preparation to the end of recovery”, – stressed Yuri Aroshidze.
Special attention was given during the meeting to the role of social workers in the process of physical and psychological rehabilitation, as well as in facilitating the reintegration of veterans into civilian life.
Modern approaches to treating chronic pain in military personnel suffering from PTSD were also discussed. Experts shared experiences with innovative techniques that can significantly improve patients' quality of life.
«I am extremely happy that nearly 40 of our physical therapy specialists have trained in the USA. They have partially learned the secrets of American doctors' mastery and gained valuable practical experience», – highlighted Inna Yashchuk.
Such meetings contribute to the development of an effective support system for veterans and ensure a comprehensive approach to their rehabilitation and assistance.
