A thematic event titled «Mental Health Awareness: Initiatives and Support» was held at the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky. This initiative was implemented as part of the «How are you?» program launched by Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska.
The goal of the event was to raise awareness about the importance of mental health preservation and to create a space for dialogue and experience sharing.
Over 40 participants attended offline, and more than 100 joined online, including students, psychologists, educators, and community activists.
Welcoming remarks were given by Dmytro Radulov, Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, University Rector Andrii Krasnozhon, and regional coordinator of the «How are you?» program, Anna Velychko. They emphasized the importance of consolidating efforts in the mental health sector and the special role of youth in building psychological resilience in society.
The program included a thematic quiz, interactive activities, and practical tools for supporting mental well-being.
The event was moderated by Andrii Bortov, head of the Mental Health Center, who presented current statistics regarding mental health service requests.
At the end of the event, participants engaged in a gratitude practice, creating a symbolic «Tree of Gratitude» with personal wishes and words of support.
The event confirmed the growing interest in mental health topics and the importance of continuing such initiatives in the region.
The development and implementation of the nationwide mental health program «How are you?» is supported by the Mental Health Coordination Center of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with expert support from the World Health Organization.
