From May 1 to July 14, a train featuring the artwork of American artist Barbara Kruger will run in Ukraine. The project is titled "Untitled".
This was reported by The Art Newspaper.
The artist has adorned the "Intercity" carriages of Ukrzaliznytsia. The train's inaugural journey will take it from Kyiv-Passazhyrskyi to the Darnița station, making stops in cities like Lviv, Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, Poltava, Vinnytsia, and Khmelnytskyi.
Barbara Kruger created this installation at the request of the cultural organization RIBBON International in collaboration with Ukrainian Railways.
The project's curator, Maria Isserlis, explained that Barbara drew inspiration from the agit-trains of the 1920s, which carried revolutionary slogans and spread propaganda messages in rural areas of Ukraine.
The text on the train is written in Ukrainian, as it was important for Kruger that people could understand the inscriptions and feel a connection to them.
"For her, the train symbolizes solidarity," says Isserlis.
Known for her bold and provocative texts, Barbara Kruger urges passersby to stop, think, and reassess the world around them.
In the commissioned project "Untitled (Another One)" are the lines:
"ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER NIGHT ANOTHER DARK ANOTHER GLIMMER ANOTHER KISS ANOTHER FIGHT ANOTHER LOSS ANOTHER GAIN ANOTHER DESIRE ANOTHER SIN ANOTHER SMILE ANOTHER TEAR ANOTHER HOPE ANOTHER FEAR ANOTHER LOVE ANOTHER YEAR ANOTHER ARGUMENT ANOTHER LIFE"
