Changes in Border Crossing Procedures in Poland

Polish border guards have begun collecting biometric data from travelers in preparation for a new border crossing system that will come into effect this October.

This was announced on air by Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

He mentioned that the European Union had previously informed about the implementation of a new border control system affecting all Schengen countries, which may initially extend the processing time for citizens.

«Poland is testing the new system to ensure it operates more efficiently and quickly, thereby reducing wait times. This system is expected to be fully operational by October. Poland is preparing for this, so we can expect longer crossing times as biometric data will need to be recorded for those entering Poland,» said the spokesperson.

In this regard, Demchenko advised travelers to allow extra time for crossing the border into Poland.

Remember, starting October 12, the European Union will implement a new digital control system called EES (Entry/Exit System) for third-country nationals, which will gradually replace passport stamping and collect biometric data.
