A new mural honoring Ukrainian rescuers has been unveiled at the Central Bus Station in Kyiv. The presentation took place just before the annual Rescuer's Day celebrated on September 17.
The mural was created by artist Diana Sorokina, who has completed over a hundred wall paintings in various cities across the country.
This new artwork combines urban style with themes of heroism and assistance, aiming not only to beautify the urban space but also to highlight the importance of rescuers' work in the daily lives of Ukrainians.
Diana Sorokina expressed that this mural is her ode of gratitude to Ukrainian rescuers: “I am very thankful for the opportunity to create this mural. Tomorrow, on September 17, we celebrate Rescuer's Day. I want to thank you for your courage and strength. I hope you will appreciate what I have depicted in this mural.”
Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Roman Prymus, emphasized that this mural serves as a reminder for every citizen visiting our city to remember the rescuers, as well as a tribute to all Ukrainian emergency workers who safeguard our country.
“In times of war, rescuers are the first to respond to emergencies, often risking their lives and health. Unfortunately, we have lost 107 of our emergency responders while fulfilling their duties. Many have been injured. Yet despite all risks, they continue to be the first to help,” he stated.
He thanked the leadership of JSC “Kyivpass” for their support and the opportunity to immortalize the memory of rescuers who heroically protect people's lives.
According to Oleg Mishchenko, head of the board of JSC “Kyivpass,” it is crucial that such symbolic projects appear in the territory of Kyiv's Central Bus Station, as the bus station represents not just travel, but also a public space with cultural and commemorative value.
The State Emergency Service noted that Diana Sorokina captured and reflected the values shared by the large team of Ukrainian rescuers.
