Poland has initiated new airspace restrictions along its borders with Ukraine and Belarus.
This was reported by Reuters.
«At the request of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces in eastern Poland, air traffic restrictions will be implemented in the form of limited zone EP R129», stated the Polish Air Navigation Agency in a press release late on the evening of September 10.
The restrictions are now in effect and will last until December 9. It is clarified that flights in the restricted zone are prohibited from sunrise to sunset, except for manned aircraft operating according to flight plans with appropriate transponders and maintaining two-way communication with aviation authorities.
At night, from sunset to sunrise, there is a complete ban on flights, except for military aircraft. Additionally, a 24-hour ban on civilian drone flights is in effect in this area.
As reported by Ukrinform, Polish military forces shot down drones that violated Polish airspace on the night of September 10.
One of the damaged drones was found in a field in the village of Chosnuvka near Biała Podlaska in the Lublin Voivodeship. Debris from the downed drone fell on a residential building in the town of Wyrki in the Włodawa County of Lublin Voivodeship.
Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that NATO allies are facing a «massive provocation» from Moscow.
According to him, a total of 19 drones intruded into Polish airspace overnight. Three or four drones were shot down by Polish F-16s and Dutch F-35s.
