In Warsaw, a violent attack occurred on a group of Ukrainians near a shopping center. Police confirmed that the attackers were motivated by ethnic hatred.
This information was reported by Raport Warszawski.
The incident took place last Thursday. Unknown individuals assaulted a group of young Ukrainians by the store. The attackers did not stop at insults - three of them brutally beat the victims. A woman accompanying the victims called the police and recorded the entire incident on her phone. Investigators from Bialolenka arrived at the scene, collected evidence, interviewed witnesses, and described the offenders. Due to injuries sustained by one of the victims, an ambulance was called.
"The police immediately initiated operations to identify and apprehend the attackers," emphasized Chief Superintendent Paulina Onyshko.
The key evidence turned out to be the recording made by a witness. Investigators analyzed the video and identified the offenders. The next day, the patrol arrested a 41-year-old man. A few hours later, two more were arrested in an apartment in Bialolenka: a 28-year-old and a 36-year-old. During the search, officers found mephedrone, which the older suspect admitted to possessing.
All three men were charged:
- The 41-year-old man will be held accountable for his participation in the attack.
- The 28-year-old was also charged with causing bodily harm, insulting a person based on nationality, and threatening a witness.
- The 36-year-old faced charges of assault, insult, and possession of drugs, with recidivism being an aggravating circumstance.
The investigation is being conducted by the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office in Praga-Południe. The court has placed the suspects under police supervision. Each of them is prohibited from contacting the victims and other co-defendants. Assault and insult based on nationality can result in imprisonment for up to five years. Recidivists may face harsher penalties. It is worth noting that earlier this year in a hotel in Krakow, the bodies of two men were found, one of whom was a 58-year-old Ukrainian citizen who had lived in that room for the past two years.
