On Wednesday, during his visit to Washington, Polish President Karol Nawrocki announced that U.S. President Donald Trump has invited him to next year's G20 summit in Florida.
Nawrocki shared this news at a press conference at Blair House, the official guest residence of the U.S. president located opposite the White House.
The U.S. is set to assume the presidency of the group of major world economies in 2026, with the summit planned to be held at Trump's resort in Doral, near Miami.
Marcin Przydach, head of the President's Bureau of International Policy, stated that this invitation marks the first step in Poland's efforts to join the G20.
However, as noted by TVP, Trump's invitation does not ensure that Poland will join the G20 club. For example, Spain is regularly invited to summits even though it is not a member. Many other countries have also participated as guests at the summits.
Nawrocki also mentioned that during his meeting at the White House, he invited Trump to visit Poland, although a date for the visit has not yet been set. He did not rule out that the visit could take place next year.
