In Kyiv, the Alley of Heroes 'Warriors of Light' was ceremonially opened in honor of the Day of Remembrance for defenders. More than 300 images of fallen soldiers were displayed on the stands.
The exhibition was initiated by Vira Lytvynenko, the mother of a soldier with the call sign 'Vector', and the head of the organization 'Hearts of Fallen Defenders of Ukraine'. This is the fourth consecutive year that over 300 portraits of warriors, including fighters from 'Azov' and other units who died in combat, have been showcased at St. Sophia's Square. Hundreds of people came to honor their memory by laying flowers and lighting candles at the portraits.
“This is not just an exhibition; it’s a chance to connect with those who gave their lives for our country,” said Miroslava Smirnova, director of the Department of Public Communications. She emphasized the importance of unity in overcoming the enemy.
During the event, footage from the defense of Mariupol was shown, along with posts from fallen soldiers on social media. Discussions highlighted the sacrifices and heroism of Ukrainian military personnel.
Stanislav Ryzhenkov, a representative of the Kyiv City Council for veterans, addressed the families of the fallen: “This is a place of memory for those who died for Ukraine, and every name here is an irreplaceable loss.”
For the first time, an exhibition called 'Family of Heroes' was presented, featuring artistic works created by the families of the fallen. The collected funds will support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Vira Lytvynenko, who organized the event, emphasized the importance of remembering the fallen: “In every portrait lies a love for life, dreams, and plans.”
Every day at 9 AM, Ukrainians honor the memory of the fallen.
The 'Warriors of Light' exhibition will run until October 1.
