A man was apprehended in the Kyiv area for setting off fireworks from his balcony. The individual, inebriated at the time, decided to celebrate an occasion but scared the neighbors. He faces a potential sentence of up to five years of restriction of liberty.
The police received a call about fireworks being launched from a balcony on Voskresensky Avenue. Officers promptly arrived at the scene.
The culprit turned out to be a 43-year-old local resident, who was located at his home. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of 3.11 promille. He justified his actions as a way to celebrate a family event.
Authorities confiscated the launching device, and the man was charged under part 1 of article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for hooliganism. The article carries a penalty of up to five years.
