A new Ukrainian translation of the popular French comic has been presented, translated by 18-year-old Anna-Maria Balandina.

On June 19, at 3:00 PM, the Central Library named after T.G. Shevchenko for Children in Kyiv (25-A Beresteisky Avenue) will host a ceremonial presentation of the first Ukrainian translation of the adventures of Asterix and Obelix — 'Asterix from Gaul'. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration.

Asterix has long been one of the most translated comic books in the world. Ukrainian has become the 120th language for these legendary characters thanks to the French publishing house 'Albert René', which actively supported this project.

The translation was done by the youngest translator in the history of the publication: Anna-Maria Balandina, who is a first-year student at the Sorbonne University in Paris.

This significant publishing project was made possible by Rostyslav Sherstiuk, co-founder of the Asterix Readers Club in Ukraine.

'The release of this book is particularly relevant in the current context, where the spirit of resistance and refusal to submit to oppression are crucial,' believes Celeste Surug, managing director of the publishing house 'Albert René'.

The comic book in Ukrainian was published by 'Pinzel', which specializes in translated fiction and illustrated literature.
