Hotels, restaurants, and cultural venues are actively joining the city initiative aimed at enhancing information accessibility.
The Accessibility Map, which is regularly updated, currently lists 2,618 locations and over 12,000 usages, helping residents and visitors navigate the capital while considering the needs of individuals with limited mobility.
This was announced by Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Marina Honda.
She noted that more and more private sector entities are participating in this initiative. Specifically, 53 hotels, 50 restaurants and cafes, and nearly 200 cultural spaces have already provided information regarding their level of accessibility.
Marina Honda emphasized that informational accessibility is just as important as physical accessibility.
«Barrier-free means not only about infrastructure, ramps, tactile indicators, and accessible entrances. It is also about informational openness. Access to information is a prerequisite for free choice, which enables individuals to plan routes and feel secure while being part of urban life».
It is worth noting that the Accessibility Map is a convenient digital tool that allows citizens to quickly find information about the accessibility of infrastructure facilities.
In the app, users can filter locations by types (leisure, services, health, education, infrastructure), by districts, and also by accessibility attributes. The Accessibility Map includes various categories of facilities: healthcare institutions, educational establishments, administrative buildings, community centers, cultural and social institutions, as well as residential buildings.
The service is currently in the testing phase, but it is already being actively used by both residents and organizations. The map is regularly updated, adding new locations and verifying the relevance of existing information.
