The Kharkiv City Council has received confirmation from the World Bank regarding the allocation of over $33 million for the modernization of energy systems.
This information was announced by the city mayor, Igor Terekhov, according to news from "Slobidsky Krai".
The World Bank has provided a grant of $33.3 million to support this initiative.
"This is the second phase of the "RePower" initiative, and thanks to the successful completion of the previous phase, we were able to secure this funding, which was agreed upon last year at the conference for the reconstruction of Ukraine in Berlin", – emphasized Terekhov.
"This funding will allow us to take another significant step forward. The city will gain an additional 8.5 megawatts of energy through modern cogeneration units that will be placed in the most vulnerable areas", – he noted.
"In areas with the highest risk of outages, these systems will ensure heating and electricity for hospitals, schools, boiler houses, and residential buildings even during a complete blackout", – Terekhov added.
